Ateneo unbeaten in six games in UAAP baseball

    Jan 24, 2013

ATENEO continued where it left off in the first round as the Blue Eagles clobbered Adamson, 12-1, for their sixth straight UAAP Season 75 baseball win Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Ateneo, looking for its first championship, duplicated its best-ever start of 6-0 last season.

Dio Remollo then connected on a double, pushing Matt Laurel and Leandro Banzon home as the Blue Eagles took an 11-run lead in the eighth inning to ice the game.

In other matches, defending champion National University beat La Salle, 9-4, while University of the Philippines stunned University of Santo Tomas, 11-6.

The Bulldogs, who lost to the Blue Eagles at the end of the first round last Sunday, tied the Growling Tigers in second place at 4-2, while the Fighting Maroons tied the Green Archers at 2-4.

The Falcons remain the tournament’s lone winless team at 0-6.
