THE Adamson Soaring Falcons stunned the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 4-2, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Falcons came out swinging as they scored three runs in the opening inning courtesy of Gerald Riparip, Erwin Bosito, and Mark Manaig.
Riparip repeated for the Soaring Falcons in the top of the second inning as he scored a run off an error at the center field.
The victory gave Adamson a share of the lead with Ateneo and La Salle as they secured a 3-1 win-loss card while sending the Blue Eagles to their first defeat of the season.
Earlier, the La Salle Green Batters bounced back against the National University Bulldogs in extra innings, 9-8.
The Bulldogs led the Green Batters, 6-3, at the end of the seventh inning, but La Salle launched a comeback in the ninth inning as they scored four runs to tie the count at 8-8.
Meanwhile, the match between the University of Santo Tomas Golden Sox and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons was suspended due darkness. UST was leading UP, 13-10, at the end of the seventh inning when play was stopped.
The match will resume at the end of the first round.
