TOP-seed Ros Pedrosa topped the Smart National Badminton Open with a 22-20, 21-11 victory over Lanz Zafra in the men’s singles final on Friday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex
Seeing Zafra run rougshod of the competition on the way to the final, the former National University standout just refocused his mindset.
"I just kept telling myself na, 'Keep calm, Ros. Trust yourself'," he said.
Southeast Asian Games-bound Thea Pomar and Ariel Magnaye beat Alyssa Leonardo and Alvin Morada in the mixed doubles championship, 21-18, 22-20.
Pomar and Leonardo then took down Patricia Barredo and Lea Inlayo in the women's doubles, 21-12, 21-16.
Bianca Carlos bucked cramps to beat Sarah Barredo in the women’s singles final.
Up by one in the decider, Carlos suddenly cramped up when she went for a return but played on for a 21-18, 19-21, 21-18 win.
