National ranking points, cash prizes at stake in FDG Cup Open badminton
Malvinne Alcala heads the cast in this year's FDG Cup badminton tournament.

THE 2015 FDG Cup Open and Invitational badminton championship gets going next week with members of the national team headlining the Open division.

The preliminaries are set July 9 to 11 at Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals to be played on July 12 at Robinsons Place Manila.

Siblings Malvinne and Marc Alcala, John Kenneth Monterubio, Peter Magnaye, Kevin Dalisay and Eleanor Inlayo banner the 12th staging of the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association.

Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes as well as points in the Philippine National Ranking System.

The draw will be held on Thursday at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Pasig City.

The Invitation division will feature employees and business partners of Robinsons Land Corporation.

Former world and Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat and former German Open winner Mizui Fujii will play exhibition matches on the final day.

The tournament will conclude with the awarding rites at the Century Park Hotel in Manila and will have celebrities Karylle Tatlonghari as host and K. Brosas and Pooh as performers.
