Also advancing to the round of eight is Tricia Pomar of FEU, who subdued Marie Lorenzana, 21-15, 19-21, 21-15.
Defending champion Gelita Castilo of University of the Philippines, the third seed, edged Air Force’s Jennifer Cayetano, 19-21, 21-9, 21-10.
Castilo will next face Shane Salvador, also of PBA-Smash, who disposed of Beverly Lagnada, 21-12, 21-9.
Action shifts to Glorietta 5 Atrium in Makati City for the quarterfinal matches on Thursday.
Second seed Sarah Barredo, also of PBA-Smash, whipped Hanah Tudtud, 21-16, 21-6, to arrange a quarterfinal match with teammate Arianne Rivera, who trounced Victor PCOME’s Danica Bolos, 21-8, 21-12.
Fourth-ranked Airah Albo defeated Indonesia’s Jesica Muljati, 11-21, 24-22, 21-19, to set up a duel with Allied-NVBA’s Aldreen Concepcion, who bundled out Rose Lagnada of FEU/Equiparco-BBC, 21-17, 21-12.
In the men’s Open, top seed Kevin Cudiamat beat Akishiete Hilario, 21-5, 21-10, to lead the quarterfinal cast.
Cudiamat next faces No. 6 Kenneth Monterubio, who beat Russel Enriquez, 21-9, 21-11.
Third seed Kevin Dalisay held off Orlan Ticala, 21-18, 21-15, and will face No. 8 Frell Gabuelo, who beat Christian Sison, 21-17, 21-9.
No. 4 R-Jay Ormilla downed Michael Saragena, 21-15, 21-12, to arrange a match with fifth seed Jason Oba-ob of Air Force, who dominated Adrian Ramos, 21-11, 21-10 in the tournament sponsored by Bingo Bonanza, backed by Gatorade, Glorietta, Smash Pilipinas and the Philippine Olympic Committee and organized by EventKing Corp.
