PETER Magnaye and Paul Vivas, winners of the title in the Swiss International Badminton Championship 2014, head the men’s doubles cast in the P1.5 million Bingo Bonanza National Open badminton tournament starting on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Center.
The two won the event in Switzerland in October, edging French rivals Baptiste Careme and Ronan Labar in the final.

Looking to steal the show are the tandems of Ronel Estanislao-Joper Escueta, Aries de los Santos-Alvin Morada pair, and Carlos Cayanan-Paul Pantig. Gerald Gonzales with Prince Monterubio, and Vincent Manuel with Raphael Deato are also fancied to contend for the crown and the top prize of P120,000.
In the women’s doubles, Jessie Francisco is teaming up with Eleanor Inlayo, Kristelle Salatan is combining with Aires Montilla, Alyssa Leonardo is linking up with Thea Pomar and Joella De Vera is competing with Patricia Barredo.
Vivas and Inlayo headline the mixed doubles field that also includes Magnaye-Francisco, Estanislao-De Vera, Escueta-Barredo, Delos Santos-Montilla, Escueta-Barredo and Morada-Leonardo.
Young Mark Alcala going up against veterans Toby Gadi, Rabie Oba-ob, R-Jay Ormila, Ros Pedrosa, Wilson Lopez II and Frell Gabuelo in the men’s singles competition.
Junior stars Sarah Joy Barredo and Airah Mae Nicole Albo banner the women’s singles event of the tournament sponsored by Bingo Bonanza and sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association.
