Batang Gilas waylay Singapore to secure place in Fiba-Asia Under-18 Championship

Batang Gilas are unbeaten in four games in the Seaba Under-18 Championship. 

THE Philippines beat Singapore, 87-52, in Tuesday’s Seaba Under-18 Championship in Medan, Indonesia, to clinch a berth in this year’s Fiba-Asia Under-18 Championship.

The Batang Gilas are now assured of a place in the finals of this tournament as well as one of the three berths for Southeast Asia in the 2016 Fiba-Asia Championship in Iran.

John Bryle Bahio, a cager from San Beda and University of Southern Philippines Foundation in Cebu, produced 16 points in Batang Gilas' fourth win in as many tries.

The Filipino cagers, who also got 12 points from Peter Alfaro, pulled away early, 20-9, on the way to the wire-to-wire victory. The Nationals also limited Singapore to six points in the second.

The Philippines plays Indonesia in the final preliminary match on Wednesday in a possible finals preview. The championship game is set on Thursday.
