FILIPINO fans are keenly awaiting word on whether Mondo Duplantis will take part in the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge on September 21 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati.
The Make it Makati posted on its Facebook page the first batch of participants in the event headed by Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena.
Vloon vying in Manila
Also competing in the Makati event are Menno Vloon of Netherlands and Americans Austin Miller and Matt Ludwig.
Vloon, ranked No. 7 in the world, recently won the Europen Indoor title, while world No. 14 Miller was recently crowned as the US champion. Ludwig is at No. 25 and will see action in the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

So will Duplantis be taking part?
During the formal launch of the event, Obiena expressed confidence that Duplantis will make it to the Makati competition since it will be right after the World Athletics Championships from September 13 to 21.
Duplantis recently shattered his own world record by clearing 6.29 meters in the Gyulai István Memorial in Budapest, Hungary.
