Five Filipinos seeing action in World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth

FIVE Filipinos are seeing action in the 22nd World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth, Australia.

National team coach Danilo Fresnido opens the Philippine campaign on Friday in the javelin.

Former national champion Emerson Obiena, national coach and father of top SEA pole vaulter EJ Obiena, sees action on Tuesday.

Javelin thrower Erlinda Lavandia competes on Wednesday as she looks to regain the javelin throw gold medal she won in 2013 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Three-time Olympian Marestella Torres-Sunang will see action in the long jump next Saturday and Lorna Vejano will run the marathon on Sunday.

“Mariz this year is debuting in the world masters stage. She is aiming to set a new world masters athletics record in this competition,” said team manager Edward Kho.
