Rio-bound Eric Cray bags gold medal in World Challenge Series in Sweden

ERIC Cray continued to impress in his build-up for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, topping the IAAF World Challenge Series in Sweden.

Cray took the gold in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 49.67 seconds to beat Juander Santos of Dominican Republic (49.90) and Cornel Fredericks of Russia (49.94) for a medal finish.

Cray, who will be competing in the 400m hurdles in Rio in August, set a new Philippine record when he timed 48.98 seconds in the IAAF World Challenge in Madrid.

With his gold-winning performance, Cray’s world ranking is expected to improve as he shares 11th following the Madrid race.
