TAGUM City, Davao - Samantha Gem Limos of Cebu City established herself as the fastest runner in in the 13 to 15 girls 100-meter dash of the 2016 Batang Pinoy after another gold medal finish in the said event at the Sports and Tourism Complex here on Tuesday.

Limos crossed the finish line at 12.41 seconds, faster than the 12.48 record she set in the same event last year in Cebu. But she failed to make a new mark as her gold medal winning run was ruled wind-assisted, according to Patafa secretary general Renato Unso.

Despite failing to achieve her goal of setting a new record, Limos remained satisfied in taking home the gold after beating Angel Ann Pranisa of Negros Occidental (12.65) and Leyte’ Biance Combate (12.84) in the finals.

"Goal ko po talagang ma-break yung record ko," the 14-year-old Limos bared when caught up with her after the race. "Hindi naman po ako nahirapan ngayon. Pero masaya pa rin po ako kasi yung hard work paid off."

The University of Cebu standout also clocked 12.39 in the heats, but was also ruled wind-aided.

Still, this won't stop Limos from trying to set a new record and eventually become an Olympian like her idol Usain Bolt.

"Gusto ko lang pong maging Olympic runner," she said.
