NATALIE Uy bagged the bronze medal in the women’s pole vault of the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships in Doha.
Li Ling of China won by clearing 4.61, Xi Huiqin of China clinched the silver with a 4.36 vault, while the 24-year-old Uy did 4.20.
The Fil-American made a smashing debut in international competitions for the Philippines, after competing for the first time as a national athlete during this year’s National Open in Isabela when she tallied 4.12 meters.
Uy’s feat came after EJ Obiena captured the men’s pole vault gold, a first for the Philippines in the Asian Athletics Championships in 10 years.
