MIKE Nzeusseu won the battle of the boards anew on Thursday as he hauled down at least 21 rebounds for the second straight game, but, incredibly, the rebounding demon of Lyceum lost the war with head coach Topex Robinson.

Robinson had set a challenge for Nzeusseu in their game against the CSB Blazers: grab 25 rebounds. The Cameroonian fell three rebounds shy when he only hauled 22.

“He was three rebounds short. We talked about it and prior to the game, (I said) 25 rebounds. That is why I’m disappointed with Mike,” said Robinson with a smile.

Nzeusseu nevertheless grabbed one rebound more than his 21 in their previous game against Jose Rizal University last week, as the 6-foot-6 Cameroonian helped the Pirates win their second consecutive game when they beat College of Saint Benilde, 75-58.

“I thought I could get it,” said Nzeusseu, smiling when asked about not hitting the target rebounds for the game.

The target aside, Robinson said he definitely likes Nzeusseu’s attitude with the team especially his willingness to learn and be challenged.

“He is a learner. He always asks questions and he doesn’t feel good about himself that is why he is always working hard. Now he is getting rewarded,” said Robinson.

Nzeusseu said he doesn’t mind if Robinson, an assistant coach with the Alaska Aces in the PBA, pushes him to do his best, saying that the Lyceum coach is only after his welfare as a basketball player.

“Basketball is a learning process. For me, I want to take advantage that Coach Topex is in the PBA so he has a different vision. I’m trying to get everything that I can get from him,” said Nzeusseu.
