MARESTELLA Torres returned to competitive action in grand fashion, winning the gold medal in the recent Hong Kong Inter-City Athletics Championship.
Torres leaped 6.26 meters, far from her personal best of 6.71, but still impressive in her first competition since giving birth to her first child.
The event featured by 25 international and 11 local squads.
Torres, a 2012 Olympian and gold medalist in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games, is aiming for a spot in the Rio De Janeiro Olympics two years from now.
She is now training under Jim Lafferty, an American executive who once trained the Nigerian marathon team.
Julian Fuentes also took the bronze medal in the long jump junior men for the Philippines in the Hong Kong event.
