PIOTR Lobodzinski and Suzy Walsham asserted their supremacy on Sunday, both completing a hat-trick of victories in the Kerry Sports Manila Vertical Run with EastWest Bank at Shangri-La at the Fort.
Poland’s Lobodzinski finished the 59-level stair climbing race in Six minutes and 59 seconds, while Australia’s Walsham clocked 8:13.
Lobodziski was followed by Ryoji Wantanabe in 7:09, and Wai Ching Soh in 7:23.
"I am really happy to win three times in a row. My time was not perfect today, the course is a bit longer because we have to change the staircase it's a little below seven minutes," said Lobodzinski.
"More important is that I win", he added.
Walsham beat Alice McNamara, who timed 8:44, and Yuko Tateishi, who submitted a time of 9:15.
"It's always hard coming back to defend your title but I really enjoy this building," said Walsham.
"I love coming to the Philippines. The people so friendly and so amazing," she added.
After Manila, the circuit sanctioned by the International Skyrunning Federation, shifts to Beijing on August 25, Shanghai on October 21, Osaka on November 4, London on November 24 and Hong Kong on December 2. Each leg offers points for the Vertical World Circuit World Championship crowns.
Race Director David Shin said he was pleased with the turnout and hopes to see more Filipinos participate.
"We grow over the last three years. First we started we have lot of foreigners joining but this year we have a lot more locals and Filipinos joining as well," Shin said.
