JOVELYN Gonzaga got emotional during the Super Liga awarding ceremony, receiving the Most Valuable Player award after leading RC Cola Army to the title.
The spiker from Guimaras got the top individual award of the Invitational Conference after Army defeated a visiting Thai side in four sets on Saturday.
Three players on the Thai team got individual titles, with Sutadta Chuewulim awarded 1st Best Outside Spiker, Tichaya Boonlert as Best Setter and Anisa Yotpinit as Best Libero.
Gonzaga’s Army teammate Honey Tubino was named 2nd Best Outside Spiker), while Petron’s Maica Morada and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas were also handed awards as 1st Best Middle Blocker and Best Opposite Spiker, respectively. Abigail Marano of F2 Logistics was named 1st Best Middle Blocker.
Gonzaga scored 19 points, including the title-clinching attack.
“Napaka-overwhelming napaka-overflowing ’yung happiness na nararamdaman namin parang hindi pa siya ganoon sobrang nagsi-sink in,” she said.
