WORLD No. 5 Ersu Sasma leads the participants in the EJ Obiena-initiated Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge on September 21 at the Ayala Triangle in Makati.
The reigning European champion from Turkey will be coming to the country to compete against some of the best pole vaulters in the world, including seventh-ranked Obiena, in front of Filipino fans.
Also seeing action in the pole vault event are world No. 6 and European indoor champion Menno Vloon of Netherlands, giving the competition three pole vaulters in the Top 10.

Participating as well are Thibaut Collet (No. 12) of France, Ben Broeders (13) of Belgium, Austin Miller (14) of the U.S., Piotr Lisek (15) of Poland, Oleg Zernikel (16) of Germany, and American Matt Ludwig (23).
The event was initiated by Obiena, whose desire to bring world-class pole vault competition to the Philippines became a reality after partnering with Ayala Foundation’s Atletang Ayala and the MVP Sports Foundation.
The spotlight will also shine on Filipino pole vaulters on September 20 with a national competition to be held.
