EJ OBIENA made it two victories in a row on Thursday when he ruled the 30. Int. Stabhochsprungmeeting in Jockgrim, Germany.
He cleared 5.83 meters, beating Seifeldin Abdelsalam of Qatar via countback in a follow-up to his conquest of the Halberstadter Hohenflug - 1. Internationales Stabhochsprung-Meeting auf dem Domplatz, also in Germany.

For this recent meet though, Obiena eclipsed the 5.76 he cleared in the Halberstatdter event and was 0.02 short of tying his season best.
Obiena has now won four outdoor events this season, two in consecutive meets in Germany.
The Filipino pole vaulter hit 5.83 on the first attempt, with Abdelsalam doing so on the third and final try. Both failed to clear 5.93, giving Obiena the gold medal.
Obiena had a shaky start, clearing 5.45 on his second attempt, but reached heights of 5.60 and 5.70 on the first attempt.
