EJ OBIENA set a new season best for 2026 on Friday when he cleared 5.85 meters during the Meeting Madrid.
Obiena surpassed his previous mark of 5.81 in the Fly Athens meet, initially recorded as a UNC (uncertified) but later became an official mark in the record books.

Though his mark came in at second, Obiena is steadily regaining his old form that helped him become a two-time Olympian.
Obiena was coming off a 5.80 in the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix in Budapest.
Bo Kanda Lita Baehre of Germany won the gold medal with a 5.90 mark. Obiena came in at second due to countback with Pedro Buaro of Portugal placing third with 5.85.
