EJ Obiena has risen to No. 2 in the men’s world pole vault rankings.
The 27-year-old Obiena, who has earned a spot in the Paris Olympics and retained his Asian Athletics Championship title, now has 1432 ranking points, moving past Chris Nilsen of the US at 1428.
Mondo Duplantis of Sweden remains No. 1 at 1569.

"Your very own skinny kid from Tondo, alumni of CKSC and UST, is now world No. 2," Obiena said on Thursday.
"Maraming salamat Pilipinas sa pagkakataon na iwagayway ang iyong diwa. This dreamer dares to dream."
Obiena recently joined the six meter club, clearing 6.0m in winning the the Bergen Jump Challenge in Norway in June.
Whether he'll take part in the Asian Games in September remains unclear, but all eyes will soon be on Obiena's flight to Paris 2024 as he looks to seize the country's second Olympic gold medal.
