EJ OBIENA sustained his improved form after finishing sixth in the Athletissima Lausanne meet in Switzerland with a clearance of 5.81 meters on Friday.
Back competing against the world’s best, including Olympic champion and world-record holder Mondo Duplantis, Obiena showed consistency in the Lausanne Diamond League stop following his conquest of the Golden Sand meet a few days ago where he cleared 5.91.
Duplantis got the gold medal with a new meet record of 6.21, his best performance since getting married last June.
Emmanouil Karalis of Greece placed second with 6.16, while Kurtis Marschall of Australia placed third with 5.91.
Obiena hit the 5.81-mark on his second attempt, but failed to clear 5.91 that would have put him in contention for a podium finish.
