EJ Obiena places ninth at World Athletics Indoor Championships

EJ OBIENA finished ninth in the men's pole vault of the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2026 in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland.

Obiena cleared 5.70 meters, but was way off the pace of podium finishers Mondo Duplantis of Sweden, Emmanouil Karalis of Greece, and Kurtis Marschall of Australia.

Mondo raises bar

Duplantis set a new championship record with a 6.25m effort, followed by Karalis with 6.05, and Marschall with 6.00, a personal best.

As for Obiena, he hit 5.50 and 5.70, but failed to progress after missing in all three attempts at 5.85.

    John Cabang Tolentino failed to reach the semifinals after placing fourth in Heat 1 of the 60m hurdles with a clocking of 7.77 seconds.
