EJ OBIENA finished fifth in the Wanda Diamond League Silesia on the day that Armand Duplantis again reset the world record in the men's pole vault in Poland on Sunday.
Obiena hit 5.82 meters, finishing at No. 5 after failing to clear 5.92 on two attempts and 6.00 in his final attempt.
Duplantis soars again
The spotlight was of course on Duplantis, who cleared 6.26m to break by 0.01 meters the record he set during the 2024 Paris Olympics just last August 6.
The top three finishers in Silesia were the medalists during the Paris Olympics.
Sam Kendricks of the US placed second with a season-best 6.00m, taking the higher ranking from Emmanouil Karalis of Greece, who also had 6.00 but cleared it on three attempts forhis personal best.
Another American, KC Lightfoot, took fourth spot with 5.92 meters.
