EJ OBIENA set a new season-best as he closes in on hitting the six-meter mark once again in the Golden Sand in Poland.
Obiena cleared 5.91 meters to top the event, smashing the previous season-high of 5.85 in the Meeting Madrid last July.
The mark is also his highest since he hit 5.97 meters on June 20, 2024 during a 6th Irena Szewinska Memorial tilt in Poland, while also surpassing the 5.80 he reached during the 2024 Paris Olympics where he finished fourth place.
“I haven’t been up here for some time,” Obiena wrote on his Facebook page.
Obiena is starting to regain his old form a few years ago when he reached 6.00 meters during the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2023.
The Filipino pole vaulter beat Seifeldin Abdelsalam of Qatar (5.75) and Cole Walsh of United States (5.70).
