EJ Obiena captured his first title of the 2025 indoor season in the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor in Metz, France.
Obiena hit 5.70 meters to take the crown in his second competition of the year, overcoming Menno Vloon of Netherlands, who also hit the same mark, but missed the title in the tiebreaker.
Christopher Nilsen of the U.S. placed third with 5.60.
Obiena, now ranked No. 4 in the world, cleared 5.50 meters in his first attempt, then 5.70 in his second, enough to secure the title. The Filipino pole vaulter failed to clear 5.85 meters.
In his first competition of the year, Obiena placed second in the International Jump Meeting Cottbus in Germany by registering 5.65 meters last January 29.

Obiena’s next stop is the ISTAF Indoor in Berlin, Germany.
