THE Philippines won a bronze medal in compound men’s team of the Taipei 2018 Asia Cup Stage 3 World Ranking Event in Taipei last week.

The trio of Paul Marton dela Cruz, Earl Benjamin Yap, and Joseph Vicencio beat India, 231-225, in the bronze-medal match.

The Philippines took fifth place in the qualifier after a total of 2,019. The quarterfinals saw the Filipino archers upset fourth-seed and host Chinese Taipei, 231-230, only to lose to top-seed South Korea, 236-233, in the semifinals.

Aside from obtaining world ranking points, the Philippine archery team is also using the competition as a build-up for the Asian Games in Indonesia.
