PAUL Marton De La Cruz won his second gold medal in the Asia Cup-Stage 2 archery competition, topping the Olympic round of the individual men’s compound event on Monday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
De La Cruz defeated Chen Hsiang-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei in the gold medal shoot-off, 10- 9.
After 15 arrows, De La Cruz and Chen were tied at 143 forcing a shoot-off to determine the winner.
De la Cruz captured his first gold in the individual men’s compound qualification on Friday, giving the Filipino archer the top seed and a first-round bye in the Olympic round.
He also beat two Chinese Taipei archers, edging Pan Yu Ping in the second round, 144-140, and Lin Hsin-Min in the quarterfinals, before defeating Aman Saini of India, 148-146, in the semifinal round.
