Top local and foreign athletes see action as Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon fires off
The Clark Miyamit Trail Series begins in Porac, Pampanga.

ALL roads lead to Porac in Pampanga on Sunday for the Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon, the opening race of the Clark Miyamit Trail Race Series.

The race offers a rare chance to visit the iconic Miyamit Falls, with a route passing mostly fire trails, dirt road and single track trails.

Runners shall go through lahar, dirt roads and a hilly route with a picturesque view of Pampanga, Mount Arayat and the Zambales Mountain Range.

The 42k runners will go through a long ascent of single track trails, an old trail used by the Aetas, towards the “peak” that is three kilometers from the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo.

The iconic Miyamit Falls is the last turnaround point for both distances before heading back to the finish line. With such courses, even elite athletes take some time to snap a photo and get a dip in the cold water for the last push towards the finish line.

Runners who passed the qualification to join the race shall tackle 2114 meters of elevation gain for the 42-kilometer run and 1160m for the half marathon.

The race has attracted runners who would like to venture into trail running with the 26K category giving a more generous cut-off.

Seasoned long distance trail runners are seeing action in Miyamit, an ideal training and qualifying race for the longer and tougher CM50 Ultra set November 27.  As a tradition, aid stations will also be manned mostly by veteran trail runners and local aetas.

Expected to take part are veteran trail runners Manolito Divina, CM50 back-to-back champion and Asia Trail Master Championship contender Jan Nilsen of Norway, a 100K and 100Mile champion and 2015 runner-up.

Kristian Jorgensen, a CM50 veteran and a top trail runner, is also seeing action along with Koi Grey, Jeff Suazo, Andy Pope and Jerome Bautista in the event powered by RACEYaya, the official event, registration and timing management partner, endorsed by the Department of Tourism, with SPIN.ph as media partner. The meet is also sponsored by Brooks, Simple Hydration, Squeezy Gel, Vita-Coco,  Naked Running Band and NLEX-SCTEX. Hotel and venue partners are Sandbox, Alviera, Porac, Pampanga,Royce Hotel and Casino and The Villages at Clark.
