MORE than 15,500 runners will Run for a Hero in the Condura Skyway Marathon 2016 on February 7, Sunday.

Since 2008, the annual marathon with a unique course on the elevated highway has supported various causes. For the second straight year, the race beneficiary will be the Help Educate and Rear Orphans (HERO) Foundation which extends assistance to children of fallen soldiers and their families.

Aside from the 42K main race with a midnight gun start, other categories include 21k, 10k and 6k  events. The race will start and finish at Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Also taking part are 157 soldiers from the various armed services.

In a touching gesture, the 2015 race honored the 44 policemen from the Special Action Force (SAF) who died in a covert operation against Muslim insurgents in Maguindanao. An honor guard lined the tunnel leading to the Skyway ramp. The names and photos of the “Fallen 44” were each held by a commando in the first 4.4 kilometers of the course after the start line at Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
