Greipel scores second straight stage win

ANDRE GREIPEL scored his second-straight stage victory, topping another bunched sprint finish in a crash-marred Stage Five of the Tour de France.

Greipel edged out Matt Goss of Australia and Juan Jose Haedo of Argentina on Friday (Manila time).

2011 Road World Champion and Stage Two winner Mark Cavendish placed fifth in the 196.5-kilometer ride from Rouen to Saint-Quentin.

Fabian Cancellara kept the overall lead for the sixth straight day, still seven seconds ahead of Bradley Wiggins and 17 ticks clear of last year’s champion Cadel Evans.

Tyler Farrar of the US and Peter Sagan of Slovakia, winner of Stages One and Three, were involved in a crash just three kilometers left.

Stage Six is a 207.5-kilometer trek from Epernay in Champagne country to Metz.
