Oranza, Lim compete in Asian Cycling tournament

RONALD Oranza and Rustom Lim banner the LBC Cycling Pilipinas team vying in the road races of the Asian Cycling Championships starting Thursday in New Delhi.

Oranza and Lim see action in the time trial and road race events of the Under-23 and elite division where the best cyclists in the region will compete.

Lim fires off the country’s bid on the morning of opening day when he competes in the Under-23 individual time trial, while Oranza suits up for the elite individual time trial.

The two will also join the 140-kilometer road race in the same Under-23 division on Saturday, and in the 200-km road race the following day.

Oranza, 20, topped the Under-23 division after finishing third in the 2013 Ronda Pilipinas behind eventual champion Irish Valenzuela and runner up Ronald Gorrantes last month.

The 19-year-old Lim is also one of the fast-rising riders in the country as he steered his PLDT-Spyder team to a top three finish in the team race of the same bikefest.

“These are two of the best young riders in the country today and we're confident they will do good in India," said LBC Cycling Pilipinas head coach Chris Allison.

The team’s participation is sanctioned by Philcycling through its president Tagaytay City mayor Abraham Tolentino and is also supported by the MVP Sports Foundation.
