A GROWN man’s footwear rotation needs its fair share of retro runners and luxury sneakers. The recently released NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle is both those things simultaneously, and a versatile pair of kicks to consider.

NikeLab, an upscale segment of the Swoosh, rendered Tinker Hatfield’s iconic 1987 design in two simple colorways: sand and anthracite, both made with premium nubuck and smooth top-grain leather. The colorways are both done in dual tones, which makes for a subtle, muted appeal, and the off-white sole gives them a nice, elegant finishing touch.

The Air Max 1 endures to this day as an all-around lifestyle runner that translates perfectly as a luxury sneaker. In these understated Pinnacle colorways, it’s the kind of sneaker you can wear with proper, grown-up menswear. Pair the anthracite colorway with washed denim or light-colored chinos and the sand colorway with darker selvedge denim or navy blue trousers. The best part is that, because they’re made with premium leather, you can only imagine them looking better over time.

The NikeLab Air Max 1 Pinnacle ‘Sand’ and ‘Anthracite’ are now available at Commonwealth, SM Aura Premier and Commonwealth, Greenbelt 5 for P8,095.
