BALI Pure continued to cruise on Wednesday by dispatching Laoag, 28-26, 25-23, 25-17, in the Shakey's V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
After losing to Air Force in their league debut, the Purest Water Defenders have now won four successive games and have secured at least a playoff for a semifinal spot.
Alyssa Valdez scored 20 points with 10 digs and five excellent receptions, while Grethcel Soltones Soltones had 11 markers and 11 digs.
Dzi Gervacio and Mae Tajima each had eight points, while Amy Ahomiro chipped in seven for Bali Pure, which is just a notch below Pocari Sweat (4-0) in the standings.
“I’m just very, very happy that the team is getting better and better, that’s good kasi now talaga kumpleto na kami,” said Bali Pure playing coach Charo Soriano.
Jem Ferrer registered 43 of Bali Pure’s 44 excellent sets.
Laoag coach Nes Pamilar pulled his starters in what seemed to be a sign of protest after a controversial end to the second set, when the referee awarded a point to the Power Smashers after Jovielyn Prado’s attack that made tied the score at 24, only to overturn the call.
“Coach Nes knows his team better so for us regardless if it’s the first stringers or the second stringers, we’re just gonna focus talaga on our team, although it did came as a surprise that he changed his whole line up,” said Soriano.
Prado had eight points for Laoag, while Adamson’s Jessica Galanza and Mylene Paat added six points apiece for the Power Smashers, who now hold a 2-3 win-loss card.
