ALYSSA Valdez is being eyed to carry the Philippine flag during the opening ceremonies of the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
Philippine chief of mission Julian Camacho said during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum a player from the volleyball team is one of those being considered to be the country’s flag bearer in the SEA Games opening ceremony on June 5.
Camacho, treasurer of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), said Valdez is arguably the top volleyball star in the Philippines who is expected to fly the flag in the SEA Games this year.
“MVP kasi siya sa UAAP,” said Camacho, when asked why Valdez is being considered.
Also in consideration for the distinction, are athletes from football, athletics, and rugby sevens.
