Philippine Super Liga to invite two foreign teams for season-opening tournament

Jan 6, 2016

TWO foreign teams will see action in the 2016 Philippine Super Liga Invitational, the opening conference of the league for 2016, set to begin on February 12 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The PSL is putting international flavor to its invitationals with club teams from Thailand and Japan to be invited to compete against the six local clubs including Grand Prix titlist Foton, according to PSL president Ramon 'Tats' Suzara.

The league held an invitational tournament featuring local clubs in its inaugural conference in 2013 with Philippine Army copping the crown.

PSL also said two more local teams have expressed interest to join the tournament.

The top three teams after the eliminations will play in a round-robin for the championship. The league plans to give a separate trophy to the best-placed local team if a foreign club winds up topping the tournament.
