Cesca Racraquin deflects credit as San Beda earns morale-boosting win in PVL vs NCAA tormentor CSB
Cesca Racraquin celebrates San Beda's morale-boosting win vs CSB. Kiev iz Kresta

SAN Beda star Cesca Racraquin took no credit in the team’s morale-boosting win over College of St. Benilde in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

It was a sweet victory for the Lady Red Spikers as they exacted revenge over the Lady Blazers, who defeated them in the first knockout match in the stepladder semifinals in the NCAA Season 92.

“Sobrang laking confidence booster lalo na sa mga bata at bago sa amin, ‘yun kasi ang pinakakinulang kami last year sa NCAA,” said Racraquin.

“To get a win over them is a big thing talaga, sobra. Para kaming nakakuha ng one over them. Parang ganoon. Parang mentally kaya na namin sila,” she said.

Racraquin, who had 15 points, 22 digs and 16 excellent sets against CSB, has been a consistent scorer with an average of 14.3 points in three games.

But the NCAA Season 92 rookie of the year deflected the credit in San Beda's resurgence.

“Siguro di ko inaako in a way na talagang dinidibdib ko na, ‘akin ‘to, ako lang talaga ang inaasahan dito’, hindi ko ginagawang ganoon,” she said.

“Lagi kong pinu-push ang teammates ko lalo na ang first six saka ‘yung mga nakakatanda sa team na gawin ang trabaho nila. ‘Yun lang naman ang hinihingi sa amin na gawin nila ang role nila at gagawin ko ang role ko,” she added.

SBC, which came from a straight-set loss to NCAA defending champion Arellano University, improved to 2-1 win-loss card tied with its tormentor in Group B.
