Power Smashers beat lowly Air Force to keep alive bid for outright semis spot

May 23, 2017

POWER Smashers turned back Air Force, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 25-23, in the Premier Volleyball League on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Thai spiker Kannika Tipachot erupted with 23 points for the Power Smashers, who stayed in the hunt for an outright semis berth with a 5-4 record.

Jovielyn Prado added 10 points, including the block on Iari Yongco that sealed the victory.

Head coach Nes Pamilar, though, expressed disappointment, saying he saw too much complacency from the players.

The Power Smashers nearly blew a 21-15 lead in the fourth frame as the Lady Jet Spikers tied the match at 23-all.

"Parang hindi ako satisfied. In-easy easy lang ang kalana, parang alam nilang kayang kaya nila. Sabi ko hindi pwedeng ganun," said Pamilar shortly after the match.

The Lady Jet Spikers reeled to a 1-8 card.

Only Patcharee Saengmuang and Angel Antipuesto finished in double figures for Air Force with 21 and 11 points, respectively.
