UNIVERSITY of the Philippines overcame a brief lapse in concentration and put away University of the East, 25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 25-10, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Maroons snapped a four-game slide as expected, but suffered a slip in the second set before regaining composure to notch their fifth win in nine outings, matching idle Far Eastern University and National University.

Diana Carlos led the way for UP with 21 points, Kathy Bersola scored and Isa Molde added 16 markers.

Shaya Adorador scored 12 points for UE, which absorbed its eighth loss in nine outings, just a notch above cellar-dwelling Adamson (0-9).
