COLLEGE of St. Benilde is pressing the panic button after two consecutive losses in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.

The former NCAA titlist team suffered a straight set loss to NCAA defending champion Arellano University, 20-25, 22-25, 17-25, in the conference opener and a four-set beating to San Beda College, 21-525, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Graduating spiker Ranya Musa, who was part of the NCAA Season 91 team that won the team’s first title in their mother league, admitted that there’s something wrong going on with their team.

“Opo kasi po syempre parehas NCAA teams (ang tumalo sa amin) kaya nagpapanic kami na hindi lang siya hanggang fifth set eh, straight set sa Arellano tapos four sets sa Beda so parang may something wrong talaga sa team na hindi umaangat,” she said.

CSB scored 38 attack points against SBC but gave away 37 extra points to the Lady Red Spikers courtesy of its errors.

Musa, whose 21 points went down the drain, however, could not tell the reason behind the team’s slump.

“Nakakagulat for me kasi attacks 38 tapos 37 errors so may mali talaga sa team namin kung bakit nagkakaganyan, siguro nawawalan din ng tiwala sa sarili,” she said.

“(Pero) hindi ko alam kung ano ang nangyayari sa amin, tina-try namin i-angat ang isa’t-isa. Kung buong team ang nahihirapan baka individually may problema,” she added.

The loss pushed CSB down the last spot tied with Technological Institute of the Philippines (0-2) in Group B.

The Lady Blazers hope to bounce back when they face University of the Philippines on Monday.
