ATENEO defeated Singapore, 25-12, 25-9, 25-11, on Saturday to secure a place in the bronze medal match in the 17th Asean University Games in Palembang, Indonesia.

Alyssa Valdez scored 11 points, while rookie Bea de Leon added 10 for the Lady Eagles, who will face Malaysia on Sunday.

The reigning UAAP champions needed only 62 minutes to complete the win and snap a two-match skid.

"They played very relaxed and confident," Ateneo team manager Tony Boy Liao told Spin.ph, adding that they are confident they can do well on back-to-back playdates.

"Coach Tai (Bundit) prepared the players for the bronze medal match against Malaysia. He let them enjoy today's match by giving everyone a chance to play," he said.

Ryshire Wu Hui Min had six points for Singapore.
