DEFENDING champion Arellano University barely broke a sweat in defeating Letran, 25-17, 25-17, 25-12, in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.

Regine Arocha and Necole Euben finished with 11 points apiece to keep the Lady Chiefs unbeaten in three matches and claim the top spot.

Skipper Mary Ann Esguerra and Jovielyn Prado also combined for 15 markers.

“Siguro lumabas pa rin ‘yung pinag-ensayuhan namin, siguro talagang seryoso sila sa pinag-usapan namin na kailangan naming i-defend (ang title),” said Arellano U coach Obet Javier.

AU imposed its might on attacks as it doubled Letran’s production (39-18) in the match that took an hour and two minutes to finish.

Glayssa Torres made seven points for Letran, while Jaymeleene Parin added six. The Intramuros-based squad slid to 1-2.
