SHAKEY’S V-League has decided to switch to GMA News TV as its new carrying station after failing to come to terms with AKTV on an ideal time slot for the television broadcast of its matches.
League commissioner Tony Boy Liao said an agreement reached between the V-League and GMA will have the games being aired on GMA Network's news channel, from Monday to Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
The league has its in-house group that will produce the games for GMA.
In explaining their move to another network, Liao said the proposal of Sports5 to carry the games on a delayed basis through AKTV on IBC-13 and TV5 did not sit well with the pioneering volleyball league.
“They will air the games on two different channels. Nakakalito sa mga viewers,” said Liao in an SMS message.
Liao also said AKTV still could not guarantee a definite time slot for the games owing to its coverage of the PBA games.
At GMA News TV, Liao said there is a possibility of a live broadcast for the league's semifinals and finals games.
“Live games are still being discussed with GMA,” Liao assured.
Liao said that the start of the broadcast on Channel 11 will be announced soon.
