CAGAYAN Valley handed Philippine Army its first loss in the V-League Season 11 Open Conference, 27-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

Aiza Maizo had 22 points, while Janine Marciano registered 18 markers as the Lady Rising Suns scored their fourth win in five matches and stayed in third spot.

Army slipped to second place with a 5-1 win-loss record with PLDT defeating Air Force to take the top spot with a 6-1 card.

“Masaya ako kasi natalo namin ang unbeaten team,” said Cagayan coach Nes Pamilar. “Sabi ko sa mga bata ibigay lang natin ang best natin at best effort.”

"Pag nag rally ’yan mapapagod din ’yan. Ang game plan talaga is defense and pagurin sila,” added the veteran mentor.

Rachel Anne Daquis made 20 points for Army, while Nene Bautista added 16 and Jovelyn Gonzaga had 13.
