STUDIO 23 will cease to be a predominantly entertainment channel beginning on Friday to become a new sports channel on free television.

Specific details about the re-formatting have not been made public but teasers are already being shown on ABS-CBN's sister channel on the UHF band announcing that the new all-sports network will start airing on Saturday.

Although the channel had offered mostly entertainment news programs in the past, Studio 23 has already served as the home of ABS-CBN Sports’ programming in the past years including the coverage of UAAP’s basketball, volleyball, and other sports tournaments.

The NBA games are also being shown on the UHF channel, both on a live and delayed basis, aside from the games of the Philippine Azkals men’s football team.
