TEEN pool star Chezka Centeno shocked former world champion Rubilen Amit, 7-6, in the Philippine National Games women’s billiards competition on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Billiards Hall.
The 13-year-old Centeno defeated Amit, who recently reached as far as the quarterfinals of the just-concluded China Open, in the double-elimination tournament that featured 16 players.
Centeno, who has also seen action in world events, will next face Floriza Andal, who defeated Denise Santos, 7-5.
Mary Ann Basas and Iris Ranola also advanced to the next round.
Basas nipped Monette Oryan, 7-6, while Ranola blanked Gillian Go, 7-0.
In the men’s side on Saturday, Francisco “Django” Bustamante beat Rennel Dugos, 9-4, while Jeff De Luna blanked El Duay, 7-0.
