ADAM SCOTT scored a six-under 64 to take the clubhouse lead in the first round of The Open Championship on Thursday in Lancashire, England.

Pagunsan sandwiched a bogey with birdies on Nos. 4 and 6 then dropped a shot on the ninth to reach the turn at even par. The 34-year-old player from Bacolod was bogey free on the homeward nine until the par-4 closing hole.

Paul Lawrie and Zach Johnson shot 65s while Tiger Woods had a 67 which was matched by Masters champion Bubba Watson, former US Open winner Graeme McDowell and former Open champion Ernie Els.

Three-time Open champion Woods had four birdies on the front nine and suffered his only bogey on No. 15.
