GLOBAL blanked Philippine Air Force, 4-0, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Saturday to regain the United Football League First Division lead over Kaya.
Sudanese striker Izo El-Habbib overshadowed his Philippine Azkals teammates once again as he scored a brace to star for the Global booters, who are back at the top spot with 41 points on a 13-2-2 win-draw-loss card.
Alex Obiang started the scoring frenzy for Global, hitting a goal just 11 minutes into match. Patrick Reichelt struck in the 72nd minute from the right side of the penalty box to cap things off.
The win by Global booted Loyola Meralco out of title contention after the Sparks could only muster a 2-2 draw against Nomads Auction Manila on Friday that increased their point total to just 36 points.
D-day is on Tuesday at Rizal with only two clubs remaining in the title hunt.
A win by Global against the Sparks would automatically give them the title, but a draw is enough.
Even if Kaya, with 39 points, wins against Stallion Gilligan’s and ties Global with 42 points, the latter still goes on to win the crown owing to its bigger goal difference.
