RUBILEN Amit continued her winning run in the World Pool Association China Open, surviving Korean Yu Ram Cha, 9-8, on Saturday to move into the quarterfinal round of the 9-ball event held in Shanghai.
Amit, the lone Filipina competing in the women’s division, won in the final rack after Yu missed the 9-ball.
The Filipina pool star reached the knockout phase via the losers’ bracket after winning her first match against Han Fang, 7-4, in Group H.
Amit lost to Fu Xiao Fang, 5-7, but won over Bai Ge of China, 7-5, Liu Shin-Mei of Chinese Taipei, 7-3, and Zhou Doudou of China, 7-4, in the one-loss column.
In other women’s round-of-16 results, Kelly Fisher of Great Britain defeated Tsai Pei Chen of Chinese Taipei, 9-3; Bi Zhu Qing of China beat Fu Xiao Fang of China, 9-8; Allison Fisher of Great Britain beat Tan Ho-Yun of Chinese Taipei, 9-7.
Lan Hiushan of Chinese Taipei won over compatriot Lin Yuan Chun, 9-6; Chen Siming of China stunned Jasmin Ouschan of Austria, 9-7; Liu Sha Sha of China beat Chichiro Kawahara of Japan, 9-7; Chou Chieh-Yu of Chinese Taipei won over Gao Meng of China, 9-4.
