DENIED of a UAAP championship last season, University of Santo Tomas' Tigers are hungrier than ever this season.

"May gusto silang i-prove specially since last year hindi natin nakuha kaya this year iba ang mindset nila," said UST coach Pido Jarencio, whose Tigers came up short against four-time champion Ateneo in last season's Finals.

Despite the loss of court general Jeric Fortuna and forward Melo Afuang, the Tigers still have a lineup led by Jeric Teng, Aljon Mariano, and the much-improved Kevin Ferrer that is the envy of many in the league.

Filling the spot left by Fortuna are veteran guards Tata Bautista and Ed Daquioag while the Tigers remain solid inside the paint with the presence of Cameroonian center Karim Abdul.

Among the reliable back-ups are Kim Lo and Robin Tan in the guard position and Paolo Pe in the center spot.
