AS trade rumors involving Petron guard Joseph Yeo continues to go viral, one man is keeping a close watch.
Air21 governor Lito Alvarez said the team has long wanted the shifty slasher, which of course is no surprise considering coach Franz Pumaren's push to sign former De La Salle stars like Mike Cortez, Simon Atkins, and Renren Ritualo under the Express banner.
"Matagal ko nang gusto yan," said Alvarez with a smile.
Alvarez said he is very much willing to revive negotiations for Yeo, although the Air21 official said there are no ongoing talks at the moment.
“Kung ibibigay, why not?” he added. “Gustong gusto ko yun, pero I doubt kung ibibigay ng San Miguel."
When asked about the possibility of initiating another trade for Yeo, Alvarez answered: “Baka next week pwedeng simulan.”
Alvarez's pronouncement understandably gladdened Pumaren, who coached Yeo at De La Salle when the Green Archers won UAAP titles in 2001 and 2004.
“Talaga namang nuon ko pa sinabi kay Tito Lito na i-work-out yun, last year pa," said Pumaren, sounding optimistic his amiable governor can strike a deal. “We’ll see.”
Barako Bull Energy Cola management had already dispelled trade rumors involving Yeo and Ronald Tubid.
